I’m making a Gray-Hoverman antenna

February 27, 2009

Recently I discontinued my Skycable subscription (675 pesos/ $15 per month) because I seldom watch shows and CNN (I watch TV shows on my computer) and also for cost-cutting the budget. Three weeks ago I upgraded my PLDT DSL subscription to plan 1995 (speeds up to 5 mbps!) and plan to download and watch Heroes, et.al on my PC. I was a loyal subscriber to Skycable since 2005, 4 years of postpaid plan subscription which during those times I enjoyed watching WWE, CNN and others.

Now that I have no Skycable, I have to setup an antennae to watch local channel like ABS-CBN and GMA 7. I bought the Baron Super Antennae but the results are less than expected optimal. The problem was that it cannot be hoisted above our apartment it only capture 1 channel (GMA 7), also the very constraint space so I decided to placed it near our window.

The big problem was that only 1 channel can pick up the signal. I search the Internet and I found Gray-Hoverman antenna, an open-source GPL v3 layout antennae developed and created to meet the needs of people wanting to have a high converting signal.

Now, I’m assembling it and I hope it will work as they say can pick up as much as 100 km away. I will post pictures and video soon. (I’m videotaping some of my works as of this writing).

Stay alert!
