Researching A Product To Promote

October 17, 2009

In this article, I’m going to talk about researching a hot product to promote to the Internet space. I’m going to touch in the perspective of a blogger or an affiliate marketer. (It’s not intensive but sort of good old fashion basic overview)

Then I’m going to discuss how to research any hot product and make it almost guarantee you will never fail and make money in no time.

First if you are a blogger, there are various ways to monetize your blog like promoting premium themes, looking for a product in clickbank to place in your banner ads or text links or promoting another blogger who has products or membership they are offering. Aside from that, sell the obvious what many website owners already has – web hosting.

It’s recommended that you research top 5 of the most popular web hosting and signup as an affiliate. In my blog, you can see at the top that I teach blogging for FREE and how to monetize your blog and promote webhosting like Hostgator (which I still use since 2005.) By the way, if you are a beginner you can signup today and start learning how to blog where I also teach you ways how to make money online.

Search for the pro bloggers out there and signup on thier newsletter. Hangout with other successful bloggers and subscribe to their feed. Once you are on thier lists, they will promote you something, so visit those websites they refer you and signup as an affiliate and promote them yourself on your blog or to your list, if you start one. Few bloggers use autoresponders but most Internet marketers uses them so if you are still not using them I recommend Aweber. Yes, it’s my affiliate link, it’s cool if you use that but still cool if you just go directly to aweber and get $19/mo subscription, either way I’m still super cool. ;)

If you are an affiliate marketer, here are ways how to find good and hot products to market.

1. Signup To jvnotifypro.com and make sure you subscribe to Mike Merz notification lists. He will email you updates on when marketer launches their products.

There are other JV websites out there like JVNetwork but I haven’t tried it (yet). Mike Merz is popular, he does JV’ng very effectively and does well and I recommend his site (and no I’m not an affiliate)

Once you are on his lists, you’ll now receive lists of marketers who launches their product on a later date usually 2 weeks before as longer as 30 days so you have time to prepare how to promote this guru or marketer. You can also browse through the community forum for the recent product launches.

2. Find products to sell in Clickbank. But first you need to research the product if many affiliates are promoting it, consumers are buying it, and marketers are promoting it via PPC or pay-per-clicking advertising. First go to Clickbank marketplace and search the product you wish to promote. If the lists goes from page 1 or as deep as something like page 5 (which is rare by the way) with the same product from different vendors then it has potential to be going to sell. It means many vendors are selling it on Clickbank.

Usually you choose page 1 and check their stats. If it’s good, high commission rate and the gravity is not less than 60 then you have a candidate. Next go to Google, Yahoo or Bing and search about the product. If you see that somebody is promoting it through PPC then it’s likely that that product is likely to be profitable. (And if you have tools to determine that advertisers is promoting longer than a month or 2 then that advertiser is not losing).

Next review the salespage. Check their website Alexa ranking if they have increasing traffic in a short period of time. Next go to Youtube and see if there are reviews and videos about the product and see if the description is an affiliate link. If you do, then you know that this product is sure going to sell if marketed correctly.

3. If you are signed up to a CPA network (cost-per acquisition or cost per action) then the same applies above when researching which product to promote. Only this time you have to research more if there are promoting it via Web 2.0 Example. If products are promoted via Facebook or Youtube ads.

There are many ways how to search a good product to promote on your blog but you don’t need that many in order to start promoting today.

So that’s my fast and easy yet powerful tips on how to find and research products to promote if you are a blogger or an affiliate.

Happy promoting!

P.S. I’ll be changing my look on my blog and the way I promote affiliate links and banner ads.
