For the past several years I’ve been developing and creating websites for real estate brokers and agents here in Cebu, Philippines. I let my clients choose the WordPress based theme not only because it is user friendly but also because it’s highly customizable and highly adaptable to the needs both for the agent and for the client to navigate a real estate website. And I made a killing in building such websites, not only in terms of results but also how to generate the right audience for your market.
In this post, I will list top 3 real estate wordpress theme that I used for myself and for my clients. These are premium themes from Themeforest. If you are like me, who wants to build a website real fast, and deploy quickly then I prefer developing it in WordPress. My motto: Build it fast & focus on the marketing side and generating results. As time went on, later on you can improve your website, tweak it and then move on to the next process which is how to increase your bottom line.
These are premium themes so it involves having you to pay for these themes. It’s expenses but it’s worth it. I would suggest you buy these themes instead of downloading unlicensed copy from torrent or shady websites that offer free download. If you are really serious about having a real estate website, a $50 theme (regular license) is not expensive. In pesos, it’s only more or less 2,000 pesos.
The advantage of having a paid theme versus those that are not legally purchased is huge. For one, you have lifetime updates. You get technical support from the author of the theme and you will have peace of mind knowing that your purchased theme is up-to-date with bug fixes and minor changes are updated from time to time.
I will only cite my 3 top themes in this post. I can do top 10 but to make it easier for me, I only choose the top 3. Of course, you can choose any theme you want. Just go to Themeforest.net and on the search bar enter the keyword “real estate”.
From here, it will show you the total results, and that includes non-WP themes. You can refine your results by going to sort by: Best Match, Trending items, Best sellers, best rated, newest items, Price from low to high and price from high to low.
As shown on the screenshot above, I chose “Best sellers” to see which of the themes were doing good on the marketplace and used by most real estate websites. Below that, there’s Category option. It’s default to “All categories” so in this case you narrow it down to select say just “WordPress”. From here you will notice that there were 56 real estate themes for wordpress. You may browse for each of these theme which suit you best or for your client (if you are developing for your client like me).
Below are my top 3 premium themes that I personally used for myself and for my clients as well. Please note that if you are technically challenged and don’t want to be involved in setting these up, hire a web developer or designer to build a real estate website for you. If you have the budget and you don’t go the hassle of doing it yourself, hire a professional to work for you.
This theme is one of the top seller in Themeforest. I specially liked this theme because it is freaking awesome and easy to setup. Like most of the WP theme nowadays, it is mobile responsive. Meaning, it will show beautifully on mobile phone on whatever the screen sizes. It is readable, very clear even in a retina display. I know some of Cebu-based real estate websites that are still ancient (very old by today’s standard)and still not mobile friendly. They will no longer be relevant in 2015 especially that Google will put emphasis on having a mobile friendly website. If you like this theme, this cost only $48 or ₱2,160 pesos.
If you check the theme details, you have information about the theme: When was it created, when was the last update, it is high resolution or it is widget ready, etc.
This one is my old-time favorite, before when mobile responsive websites are the norm. The author somehow updated it’s Openhouse Real Estate & Automotiv car dealership theme with this OpenDoor Responsive Real Estate and Car Dealership (notice Openhouse vs. OpenDoor) and discontinued the other rather obsolete theme. This theme cost a bit higher than Realia – its $58 or ₱2,610 pesos. My Cebudotcom real estate website is based on Openhouse theme which is now obsolete. It is also heavily customized according to my specific needs.
What I liked about this theme is the easy and seamless integration of locations based on Google Maps. You can also show all the properties here in Cebu on your front page with designated Google map pins. It has a capability to enable post via front-end submission. If you are a licensed real estate broker and you have 20 licensed real estate agents under you, you can have them register at your site and post properties through the front-end. They have their own control panel to manage their property listings. And there’s an option to have paid listing. Be it for agents or for dealers or developers who wanted to pay just to post their property.
Why I endorse themeforest and not free themes or other paid developer themes?
First, the themes are not that expensive. It’s affordable for those who wanted to have a professional real estate website and can even rival most expensive themes or those coded from scratch or framework which cost a lot more. Second, unlike most paid themes (AgentPro by StudioPress), themeforest themes are easily customizable. With just a few clicks of a button, a few edit of the header or footer text you are done. Unless you are a coder or a developer, with AgentPro you need to dig lines of CSS code to achieve your desired results. You don’t need to waste time what is suppose to be a few minutes of tweak to a full hour just to change a color scheme or to change the type of font. And for free themes, I don’t want to mention it here. Again, if you’re really serious building a successful real estate website, get it done professionally or buy a professional real estate theme.
Why only 3 themes out of 56 themes from themeforest?
I chose only 3 because I personally used it. And like most of them, they gave the same features and benefits. The other 53, I haven’t used it but I find them very interesting and probably worth a second look.
Features such as:
Conclusion: These are my selection. Yours may be different. You may disagree with my choice of themes. If you have other themes worth mentioning, please do so in the comments below. If you think you having additional inputs from what I have written feel free to write me at email@example.com.
Thank you for reading! (And this is my first comeback of writing for my blog for this year 2015!)
